WEICON WEICONLOCK AN 302-21 Anaerobic Thread Sealant is an anaerobic industrial adhesive formulated to reduce loosening in threaded connections while providing sealing at the same time. It cures when an oxygen-free environment forms between metal surfaces, filling thread gaps and making the joint more stable. Its lilac color makes application checks easier and is practical for visual inspection during maintenance. Thanks to its low-strength class, it is designed to allow joints to be removed with standard hand tools during service operations where disassembly is required.

This industrial adhesive is used to limit micro-loosening caused by vibration and shock in threaded connections such as bolt-nut and stud assemblies. Its low-viscosity character helps the material spread quickly into the threads, offering practical use during assembly. The low-strength approach provides a “secure yet serviceable” locking solution for equipment that requires adjustment or periodic disassembly. In this way, it improves connection security while targeting balanced performance that does not make disassembly difficult during maintenance.

Strength, curing, and serviceability

The product is specified for use in threaded connections up to M36 and has a gap-bridging capability of up to approximately 0.2 mm. Reflecting its low strength, the breakaway torque is given as 4–8 Nm and the prevailing torque as 2–4 Nm; these values align with the goal of removability during service. Temperature resistance is -60 °C to +150 °C, providing flexibility under different climatic and operating conditions. At room temperature, handling strength typically develops within 10–20 minutes and full strength usually develops within 3–6 hours; therefore, the curing window should be considered in process planning.

Application method and surface preparation

Keeping surfaces clean and free of oil is considered critical for consistent performance of anaerobic industrial adhesives. The product is applied evenly to the threads using the dosing nozzle; for sealing applications, it is recommended to spread it onto the thread with a circular motion. After parts are assembled and tightened, leaving the joint as undisturbed as possible during curing helps achieve more stable results. In serial production, using dispensing equipment is a suitable process approach for repeatability.

Process control and storage notes

It is important that the dosing nozzle does not touch metal; metal particles can trigger premature curing inside the packaging and impair product stability. Not pouring back material that has contacted metal after application is given as a basic discipline to reduce these risks. In the original unopened packaging, a minimum shelf life of 24 months at room temperature is specified; during storage, avoiding heat sources and direct sunlight is recommended.
