WEICON Plast-o-Seal Universal Sealant

WEICON Plast-o-Seal Universal Sealant is a permanently plastic sealing compound designed to provide sealing on machined, smooth flanges. Thanks to its solvent- and silicone-free formulation, it works without producing an unpleasant odor and makes the assembly process more practical. Since it retains its plasticity instead of hardening and becoming brittle after application, it helps reduce additional labor during disassembly. It is manufactured by WEICON, and the manufacturer’s headquarters are stated to be in Germany.

The main purpose of this product is to reduce the risk of leaks by filling micro-gaps between well-mating surfaces at joint points such as machines, gearboxes, and engine oil pans. Because the applied film is intended to be non-dripping and able to stay on the surface, it enables more controlled use even in vertical installations. Its non-corrosive character provides a reassuring framework for material compatibility when sealing metal surfaces. It is positioned for use in areas where contact with industrial fluids such as fuels, mineral oils, water, and glycol/methanol-based coolant mixtures may occur.

Chemical basis and durability framework
The base is defined as polyester resin, which aligns with the permanently plastic sealing approach. Its gap-bridging capability is aimed at very small surface tolerances; therefore, it should not be considered a “filler” product for large openings. Temperature resistance is expressed over a broad range to support use logic in equipment exposed to low and high temperature effects, and there is also a tolerance approach for short-term high-temperature exposure. On the storage side, since a long shelf life at room temperature is stated, a more predictable consumption plan can be made for maintenance stock.

Flange sealing and scenarios for improving gasket performance
The product can be used on precisely machined flanges to form a sealing film on its own and is intended to provide an immediate sealing effect after assembly. It can also be used as a “supporting sealant” to help improve the performance of old or new gaskets made from materials such as paper, cork, or felt. This approach offers a practical solution for maintenance teams in scenarios where surface roughness or gasket ageing increases the risk of leakage. The fluorescent blue color contributes to easier visual tracking of the application line and squeeze-out control.

Application method, surface preparation, and process control
For best results, keeping surfaces clean, dry, and free of oil is considered critical; this step directly affects how well the sealing film adheres to the surface. Application is typically made to one surface, and being able to complete assembly without waiting for ventilation/flash-off helps use time more efficiently in maintenance and repair work. In cold ambient conditions, bringing the product to room temperature improves application comfort and supports forming a more even film. Avoiding prolonged exposure to heat sources and direct sunlight is the correct storage approach for packaging stability and product performance.
