Weicon Silikon LP 310 ml is a single-component, silicone-based sealing and bonding material that cures by moisture and is acetoxy-curing. Because it forms a permanently elastic bead, it is positioned as a reliable industrial adhesive alternative for joints exposed to expansion/contraction and vibration. Its formulation is intended to support sealing needs in sensitive production areas, with resistance to chemicals, aging, weather conditions, and UV exposure. It is developed by the Germany-based company WEICON GmbH & Co. KG.
Permanent Elastic Sealing with Silikon LP 310 ml
Silikon LP is an industrial adhesive and gap-filling material developed for sealing, especially in environments where hygiene and process safety are critical. It is suitable for sealing joints and connections in food production, beverage lines, dairy applications, slaughterhouse areas, and commercial kitchens. It has been tested within the scope of a guideline for the hygienic evaluation of organic materials in contact with drinking water and is positioned to support the related compliance approach. It aims to provide good adhesion to steel, aluminum, glass, plastics, and many other materials; for critical plastics and special conditions, surface compatibility should be verified with a trial before application.
Chemical Structure and Performance Characteristics
The product is based on 1K polysiloxane (acetoxy) and is applied from a cartridge in a paste-like consistency. It cures with moisture, and the skin formation time is defined as approximately 10 minutes; therefore, assembly and tooling operations should be completed within this window. Typical cure progression is stated as 2–3 mm in the first 24 hours; as joint depth increases, the full curing time should be expected to extend accordingly. A maximum movement accommodation of 25% and an elongation at break of approximately 575% support its ability to tolerate joint movement; this provides an advantage in applications that combine sealing and industrial adhesive needs at the same point. Since it is not paintable, color selection and design planning become important for visible surfaces.
Resistance Values, Application Limits, and Standards
As temperature resistance is given in the range of -40 °C to +180 °C, it can be used around equipment and line connections exposed to temperature fluctuations. With a hardness of Shore A 25, it retains an elastic character and can help reduce cracking risk in vibration-exposed points. In terms of joint geometry, the maximum joint width is specified as 25 mm, and the bridging capacity is stated up to 5 mm; if these limits are exceeded, the joint design should be reconsidered. The building material classification is specified as B2 according to DIN 4102, and the product is positioned on the NSF S2 (FDA 21 CFR) listing, serving as a reference for suitability requirements in process areas. The minimum shelf life in unopened packaging at room temperature is defined as 12 months, and avoiding heat sources and direct sunlight during storage is recommended.
Application Method and Sector-Based Use Areas
Before application, ensuring that surfaces are dry, clean, and free from oil is decisive for adhesion performance; oil, dust, and dirt residues can cause early separation along the sealing line. Controlled application is carried out using a 310 ml cartridge gun, and after the bead is applied, tooling/smoothing stabilizes the joint profile. Since the processing temperature range is given as +5 °C to +35 °C, surface temperature and ambient conditions should be monitored, especially in cold environments. Key scenarios include sealing around equipment in food and beverage production lines, applications in the drinking water sector, stainless equipment connections, cabinet/enclosure sealing, and maintenance/repair work in hygienic areas. In this respect, Silikon LP is a reliable solution that supports the use of an industrial adhesive in joints where high sealing expectations and elasticity are critical.
