Weicon Zinc-Aluminum Spray 400 ml is a surface coating product developed to provide long-lasting protection against rust and corrosion on metal surfaces. Thanks to its aerosol form, it is a technical spray that can be applied quickly during maintenance and repair work, and it is especially preferred for touch-up applications on damaged galvanized areas to achieve a color match close to the original finish. After drying, it forms a tightly adhering film layer that acts as a protective barrier even under outdoor conditions. Offering practical on-site use in industrial maintenance, this technical spray delivers targeted solutions for high-risk corrosion points such as welds and drilled holes.
Corrosion repair and surface protection with Weicon Zinc-Aluminum Spray
This product supports metal surfaces against corrosion by creating a protective coating layer containing zinc and aluminum pigments. An acrylate resin is used as the binder in its formulation, and the metal content in the dry film is approximately 51%. It is frequently used by maintenance teams for repairing damage on hot-dip galvanized coatings, as it aims for an appearance close to the existing galvanized color. It helps reinforce surface integrity by acting as a protective coating in areas where coating continuity is disrupted, such as weld seams, cut edges, and drilled holes.
Technical properties and resistance parameters
Weicon Zinc-Aluminum Spray is designed as a technical spray suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications, offering temperature resistance from -50 °C to +300 °C. The recommended surface/application conditions are +5 °C to +35 °C, with an ideal application range of +18 °C to +35 °C. With 1.5 cross coats, the typical film thickness is approximately 20–40 µm, and coverage is stated as about 2 m² with the same application approach. The coating is supported by mechanical adhesion indicators such as abrasion resistance, no cracking in the mandrel bend test, and a cross-cut result in the 0–1 range (DIN 53151 / ISO 2409).
Application method and surface preparation
Before application, removing dirt, oil, and loose rust residues from the surface is critical for proper adhesion. The can should be shaken until the mixing ball is clearly audible, and spraying should be carried out from approximately 25 cm with even, crosswise passes. If required, the product can also be applied over a zinc-based primer (the manufacturer recommends a zinc spray primer), strengthening corrosion protection through a system approach. In maintenance operations that require rapid on-site intervention, it stands out as a practical technical spray solution that helps reduce downtime.
Drying, film thickness, and overcoating
After application, the surface becomes dust-dry in about 15 minutes, and full curing typically occurs within 10–12 hours. If needed, the coating can be overcoated after about 12 hours, allowing integration with topcoat paint systems according to visual and chemical requirements. When used on its own, the “topcoat not mandatory” approach can reduce additional processing in many maintenance scenarios. Due to its pressurized aerosol packaging, it should be protected from direct sunlight during storage and must not be exposed to temperatures above +50 °C.
Sector-based applications and compatible surfaces
The product is used for galvanized touch-up and corrosion-preventive coating in areas such as steel construction, iron and steel fabrication, maintenance workshops, and field assembly teams. In power plants, infrastructure projects, port and marine applications, and equipment operating outdoors, it provides targeted protection around weld areas and fastener zones. It also offers a practical technical spray alternative for localized protection of metal surfaces in automotive supply industries, construction machinery, agricultural equipment, and HVAC/plumbing lines. On surfaces such as galvanized steel, bare steel, metal edges, welded joints, and hole rims, it supports maintenance processes with advantages such as fast application, good adhesion, and chemical resistance.
The product is developed by WEICON GmbH & Co. KG (Germany) and is positioned within the WEICON technical spray product range. It is also referenced as a technical-class product with industry markers such as IMPA code 450810 and a 504-hour performance indication in the DIN EN ISO 9227-NSS salt spray test.
