WEICON Silicone F 310 ml is a neutral-curing silicone compound developed for coating, casting, and sealing applications, featuring a liquid, self-leveling consistency. Thanks to its solvent-free formulation, it enables controlled application on technical components and helps form a uniform layer on the surface. Its elastic structure supports joint performance without cracking in assemblies exposed to vibration and thermal expansion. The product is manufactured in Germany by WEICON GmbH & Co. KG.
Liquid coating, insulation, and sealing applications with Silicone F
This product can be used for elastic bonding, insulation, and impregnation processes, as well as for sealing and casting technical parts. Its liquid, spreadable consistency makes it easier to coat surfaces even with complex geometries and is designed to self-level for a smooth finish. Since it is stated to be usable up to a maximum of 10 mm in casting applications on technical components, thickness requirements should be planned accordingly. Its resistance approach to weathering and aging provides an advantage for applications expecting long-term performance both indoors and outdoors.
Technical structure and performance characteristics
Silicone F is a one-component, moisture-curing polysiloxane (oxime) based system and is supplied as transparent/colorless. A curing rate of 2–3 mm in the first 24 hours requires commissioning to be planned according to the application thickness. Temperature resistance in the range of -50 °C to +180 °C provides flexibility for use on equipment with variable operating temperatures. A maximum movement absorption of 20% indicates the importance of correct design and joint geometry in applications requiring elastic joints.
Curing behavior and joint performance
A skin formation time of approximately 15 minutes creates a critical time window for assembling parts or smoothing the surface. A maximum gap-bridging capacity of 3 mm should be considered in application design, as it may not be a standalone solution for very large tolerances. Its low Shore A hardness (10±5) and high elongation at break (600%) help the joint adapt under impact and flexing rather than becoming brittle and cracking. This structure can be a reason for preference especially in sealing and insulation work on small technical parts exposed to vibration.
Application method, surface preparation, and areas of use
Before application, surfaces should be clean, dry, and free from oil, which is a basic step for consistent adhesion, sealing, and electrical insulation performance. Mechanical surface preparation such as sanding or light grinding can increase adhesion; the use of a primer is a recommended approach on difficult substrates. It can be applied with a cartridge gun, pressure gun, or automatic dosing systems, and assembling parts before skin formation can provide better wetting. In machine and plant construction, plastics processing, the energy/electrical sector, and exhibition/retail applications, it can be used for technical coating and sealing on surfaces such as steel, aluminum, glass, and ceramic. It is recommended to store it unopened at room temperature and keep it away from heat sources and direct sunlight; shelf life is stated as 12 months at room temperature.
