Weicon GMK 2510 Contact Adhesive is a two-component industrial adhesive designed to create a full-surface, permanently elastic bond for parts exposed to continuous dynamic loads. Thanks to its polychloroprene (CR)-based contact system, it offers a practical solution for bonding different materials such as rubber and metal. Compared to single-component contact adhesives, it is intended to provide higher bond strength and improved heat resistance. After curing, the bond area shows resistance to moisture. The product is manufactured by WEICON GmbH & Co. KG (Münster, Germany).

Elastic and strong bonding performance with GMK 2510 contact adhesive
This industrial adhesive helps better tolerate material movement and stress variations by providing permanent elasticity in the bonded joint. It is particularly aimed at reducing “brittle” behavior in joints exposed to vibration, flexing, and repetitive loads. Technical data state a temperature resistance range of -40 °C to +80 °C, with short-term resistance (approx. 1 hour) up to +130 °C. The processing temperature is +15 °C to +35 °C, which helps planning for field application. Full strength is stated to be achieved after 24 hours, so loading should be scheduled accordingly.

Chemical structure and surface compatibility of Weicon GMK 2510
GMK 2510 is based on polychloroprene (CR) and is defined as a two-component contact industrial adhesive system. It is stated to be suitable for use on rubber, metal, textiles, leather, sponge rubber (neoprene), CSM (Hypalon), insulation materials, adhesive-coated PU materials, wood, stone, and many plastics. However, it is indicated as not suitable for certain materials such as polystyrene foam, polyethylene, polypropylene, soft PVC foam, and PVC artificial leather. For these materials, selecting a product with a different chemistry would be more appropriate. Technical documentation also notes that the product is black and, due to its contact adhesive character, stands out in full-surface bonding applications.

Application method and working time
Before application, surfaces should be clean, dry, dust-free, and free from oil, which is considered critical for achieving the intended performance with this industrial adhesive. Roughening the surface can be a preparatory step that may help increase bond strength. After thorough mixing, the product is applied as a thin layer over the entire bonding surface using a brush or spatula; depending on the material, two or three thin coats may be required. It is recommended to allow the coated surfaces to ventilate for 5–15 minutes and to join the parts with strong pressure for a short time once the surface appears dry and feels slightly tacky. If the ventilation time is exceeded and the surface becomes overly dry, it is stated that the adhesive must be applied again.

Industry-specific areas of use and key advantages
GMK 2510 contact system industrial adhesive can be used in automotive and supplier industries for rubber-to-metal joints, assemblies exposed to vibration, and maintenance applications. In insulation and HVAC processes, it offers a practical option for bonding insulation materials, coated PU surfaces, or textile-backed layers. In marine and general industrial maintenance operations, its moisture resistance supports a reliable performance approach for indoor applications. Its ability to create a full-surface bond can contribute to uniform adhesion in large-area covering and lamination-like work. Thanks to its two-component structure, it stands out in applications seeking stronger bonding and higher heat resistance than single-component contact alternatives.
