WEICON WEICONLOCK® AN 306-40 is a single-component anaerobic industrial adhesive used to reduce loosening during the assembly of cylindrical parts (such as bearing housings, bushings, sleeves, and bearing seats on shafts). It cures in air-excluded areas between metal surfaces, aiming to create a high-strength, hard-to-disassemble retaining bond. Its green color makes it easier to visually control product distribution during application. Its medium viscosity and slow-curing character provide an advantage for controlled assembly and alignment, especially in larger cylindrical joints.

Target applications for the AN 306-40 retaining compound
This industrial adhesive is preferred for securing cylindrical fits where tolerances have increased due to wear or where there is a risk of loosening under vibration. It offers a solution to improve assembly security in bearing seats, bushing-sleeve assemblies, fits around gearboxes, and conveyor drive elements. The product is also positioned for use on threaded connections up to M20, allowing maintenance teams to manage different joint types in the field with a single system. High temperature resistance is an important advantage that supports joint stability in equipment exposed to thermal cycling.

Anaerobic chemistry and basic technical performance summary
Because AN 306-40 is an anaerobically curing system, it hardens at the metal-to-metal interface where oxygen is excluded; this is the core principle of retaining compounds. Since the maximum gap-filling capability is specified as 0.15 mm, it is recommended to keep the assembly clearance within this limit during application. Temperature resistance is given as -60 °C to +200 °C, providing a safer service range for mechanical joints exposed to higher temperatures. Shear strength is reported as 15–30 N/mm² according to DIN 54452, which technically explains its “high strength” class for load transfer in cylindrical assemblies.

Curing behavior and process planning
Handling strength for this industrial adhesive is stated as approximately 240 minutes at room temperature, which is advantageous in applications that require a longer working window for assembly and alignment. The information that full strength develops in about 24 hours at room temperature helps clarify when the part can be returned to full load during maintenance planning. For threaded connections, breakaway torque is stated as 20–30 Nm and prevailing torque as 30–40 Nm, so the joint is considered “hard to disassemble.” A Brookfield viscosity of 600,000 mPa·s at +25 °C indicates a structure that helps the product remain in the application area without running off.

Application method, surface preparation, and compatible systems
For best results, surfaces are recommended to be cleaned and degreased; however, it is stated that slightly oily surfaces can be tolerated to a certain extent. The product should be applied as a thin, even film using the dosing tip on the package, and care should be taken not to let the dosing tip touch metal directly. For press fits and larger cylindrical assemblies, applying a thin layer to both surfaces improves bond uniformity; for blind holes, the hole should be filled with a sufficient amount of product. It is important not to pour product that has contacted metal back into the bottle, as small metal particles can cause premature curing inside the packaging.

Storage and operational advantages
The product can be stored for at least 24 months at room temperature in the unopened original container; it should be kept away from heat sources and direct sunlight. Since the air inside the package helps keep anaerobic products liquid, proper bottle/tube handling discipline is important. The single-component design eliminates mixing errors, making it easier to achieve repeatable results in the field, and in this respect it provides a practical industrial adhesive standard for maintenance teams. With the correct assembly clearance, proper surface preparation, and controlled dosing, long-lasting fixation in cylindrical fits can be targeted.
