WEICON Contact VA 1401 Cyanoacrylate Adhesive is a liquid industrial adhesive that cures quickly and offers controlled dispensing thanks to its medium-viscosity character. Its ethyl-based cyanoacrylate structure forms initial adhesion within seconds with the help of ambient moisture, saving time in assembly and maintenance work. While it targets good results on absorbent surfaces such as fabric, paper, and cardboard, it also offers general-purpose use for combinations of metal, plastic, and rubber. The manufacturer is WEICON, and the product is part of WEICON’s Germany-based portfolio.

Fast fixing and substrate compatibility with VA 1401
This industrial adhesive focuses especially on fast bonding needs for materials such as fabric, paper, cardboard, corrugated cardboard, sponge rubber, and large-pore elastomers. It also targets a wide application range where metal, plastic, and rubber can be bonded to themselves or to each other. Because it works as a thin film, joints with good part fit and high surface contact deliver more repeatable results. For difficult-to-bond substrates such as PE, PP, POM, PTFE, TPE, and silicone, using a primer as part of the process can help make adhesion more reliable.

Technical structure and performance framework
The product is an ethyl-based, transparent/colorless liquid and is silicone-free; it is also stated to be hydroquinone-free. Since the medium-viscosity range is given as 100–150 mPa·s, it helps manage run-off risk and supports more controlled application on small parts. Its density is defined as 1.1 g/cm³, and maximum gap-bridging capability is limited to 0.15 mm; therefore, it should be evaluated not as a large gap filler but as an industrial adhesive designed for well-contacting surfaces. Temperature resistance is stated as -50 °C to +120 °C, and the softening temperature is given as +150 °C, providing a practical framework for service temperature planning.

Curing behavior and application window
The processing temperature range is defined as +15 °C to +40 °C, and the recommended relative humidity band is 40%–70%. Initial grip begins within seconds depending on the substrate, and a 24-hour curing time should be considered for final strength. Keeping the layer thickness in the range of about 0.05–0.2 mm is recommended; a thicker film can make full curing more difficult. The note that curing may slow significantly at low humidity, while the risk of shock curing may increase at very high humidity or on certain alkaline surfaces, highlights the importance of process control.

Application method, surface preparation, and sector use areas
Before application, surfaces should be clean, dry, and free of oil, which is the basic requirement for achieving quality results with this industrial adhesive; mechanical roughening is recommended for very smooth surfaces. The adhesive is typically applied to only one of the surfaces, and parts are quickly joined and, if possible, fixed in place; this discipline helps the fast-grip concept work more reliably. A spot-application approach is preferred on large surfaces to reduce internal stresses and also helps manage consumption. It offers a practical solution in scenarios such as fixing small components in automotive supply and maintenance, bonding housings and parts in electrical/electronics assembly, and localized bonding in packaging and cardboard applications. Since shelf life is stated as at least 9 months at room temperature and at least 12 months when stored at +2 °C to +7 °C, inventory planning can be done more predictably.
