Weicon WEICONLOCK AN 302-62 Anaerobic Threadlocking Sealant is a single-component anaerobic industrial adhesive system used for bolt locking and sealing in metal threaded connections. Its red color visually indicates the high-strength grade and that disassembly will be difficult. Thanks to its high viscosity, it helps enable controlled, targeted application on threads. This product is manufactured in Germany by WEICON GmbH & Co. KG.
High-strength locking and sealing with WEICONLOCK AN 302-62
AN 302-62 is an industrial adhesive designed to prevent loosening in threaded assemblies and to provide secure locking under vibration. Because it is positioned in the “hard to disassemble” class, it is preferred in applications where long maintenance intervals are desired and unintended opening of the connection is critical. By filling gaps in the thread interface, it also contributes to sealing and helps reduce micro-movement between mating surfaces. It is recommended for threaded connections up to M36.
Technical performance range and basic strength values
Technical data for this anaerobic industrial adhesive indicate a Brookfield viscosity range of 1,500–6,500 mPa·s at +25 °C, providing a consistency suitable for controlled application that stays on the thread without running. The maximum gap-filling capacity is stated as 0.25 mm, which is an important limit for reliable curing on properly toleranced metal threads. For threaded connections, the “breakaway” (initial removal torque) is 20–25 Nm and the “prevailing” (running torque) is 40–55 Nm, giving the joint a long-term locking character. The shear strength according to DIN 54452 is given as 10–15 N/mm², making it suitable where mechanical strength is required.
Anaerobic curing mechanism and compatible surfaces
AN 302-62 is an anaerobic system that cures in areas where oxygen is excluded between metal surfaces; therefore, its typical application is metal threaded connections. It is used on steel and similar metals for securing bolts and nuts, studs, and metal threaded parts, as well as for providing thread sealing. Due to its high-strength class, disassembly may require heating the part or using an appropriate solvent approach. In series applications, dosing control is important; not pouring product that has contacted metal back into the bottle helps reduce the risk of unwanted curing inside the packaging.
Application steps and practical points to note
Before application, cleaning threads from oil, dirt, and process residues is critical for bonding and sealing performance. The product is applied circumferentially onto the thread, the parts are assembled and tightened to the desired torque, and sufficient time is allowed for curing. Working with properly toleranced joints so the gap does not exceed the 0.25 mm limit helps keep curing and strength within the stated ranges. It provides strong connection security in pumps, gear reducers, machine frame connections, automotive supplier assemblies, and heavy-duty maintenance operations where the risk of loosening is high.
