This industrial adhesive focuses on penetrating micro-gaps between threads on pipe threads to close leakage channels. In flange applications, it is applied as a continuous bead on one surface to form a sealing film line between two faces. Its high-viscosity character helps the material remain controlled in the application area and reduces the risk of run-off, especially on vertical surfaces. At the same time, the medium-strength approach provides a balanced locking effect that maintains removability during maintenance while delivering sealing. In this respect, AN 301-72 is a preferred industrial solution for plumbing and equipment assemblies where both sealing and connection stabilization are expected.

Technical performance and resistance approach

AN 301-72 is specified for threaded connections up to M80 / R 3” and has a maximum gap-bridging capability of approximately 0.30 mm. At 25 °C, its Brookfield viscosity is stated as 15,000–60,000 mPa·s; this consistency supports application control while enhancing the filling effect on pipe threads. Reflecting its medium-strength class, the breakaway torque is given as 5–10 Nm, the prevailing torque as 4–6 Nm, and shear strength as 5–7 N/mm². Handling strength typically develops within 15–30 minutes, and full strength develops within 6–12 hours; these times help keep the waiting window manageable in commissioning plans. Temperature resistance is specified as -60 °C to +200 °C, offering flexibility for process lines exposed to temperature fluctuations.

Application method and surface preparation

For best results, it is recommended that threaded parts are clean and free of oil; as surface cleanliness increases, performance is expected to become more stable. The product is applied onto the thread with the dosing nozzle using a circular motion, and then the pipe connection is tightened to the desired alignment. For flange sealing, a continuous bead is applied to one flange face, parts are joined quickly, and the bolts are tightened. It is important that the dosing nozzle does not touch metal; even very small metal particles can trigger premature curing inside the packaging. In serial production, using dispensing equipment is a suitable approach to support process stability and repeatability.

Pressure resistance, accessories, and usage tips

For this industrial adhesive, pressure resistance is expressed with values that vary depending on the connection geometry, and higher levels may be seen in smaller thread sizes. For example, reference values are given as 1500 bar for M3x6 and M4x6 connections, 700 bar for M8x12, and 500 bar for M10x16; therefore, connection size and design should be considered in the application. In demanding conditions or when higher process reliability is required, a system approach using auxiliary products such as Activator F can be preferred.
