Weicon GMK 2410 High-Strength Contact Adhesive is an industrial adhesive developed to create a full-surface, flexible bond on rubber-to-rubber and rubber-to-metal substrates. Thanks to its polychloroprene (CR)-based formulation, it aims to remain permanently elastic after curing and forms a moisture-resistant bond line. Since it works on the contact-adhesive principle, it provides fast and repeatable assembly when the correct evaporation time and pressing step are applied. The product is manufactured by WEICON GmbH & Co. KG and is of German origin.

GMK 2410 contact industrial adhesive: structure and performance
GMK 2410 is a polychloroprene (CR)-based industrial adhesive positioned especially for high-strength and flexible bonds. The brown product is specified with a density of 0.93 g/cm³ and a viscosity of 2400 mPa·s; these values support thin-film application with a brush or spatula. The evaporation time of the applied layer is given as 5–10 minutes, the contact bonding time as approximately 10 minutes, and full strength is expected after 24 hours. With a temperature resistance specified as -40 °C to +80 °C, this industrial adhesive is intended to keep the flexible bond line stable under varying service conditions.

Compatible materials and limitations
The product is suitable for full-surface bonding on rubber, foam rubber, PE foam, leather, felt, insulation materials, textiles, wood, and many plastics. However, it should not be used on materials such as expanded polystyrene (EPS), polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), soft PVC foam, and artificial PVC leather, as compatibility is not indicated for these substrates. Lap shear strength on galvanized steel is given as 1.6 N/mm²; since lower values may be seen depending on the rubber type, it is important to perform trial applications based on the specific part and material pairing. This approach increases process safety in industrial adhesive selection.

Key advantages and process compatibility
Permanent elasticity provides additional safety in joints exposed to vibration and small expansion/contraction movements. The moisture-resistant structure helps the bond line remain stable longer, especially in applications close to insulation and sealing. Since consumption is specified as 250–350 g/m², material planning can be done more controlled in full-surface applications. Keeping the processing temperature between +15 °C and +35 °C is a critical parameter for consistent film formation and bonding performance with this industrial adhesive.

Application method and sector-specific use
Before application, surfaces must be clean, dry, dust-free, and free of oil; roughening can significantly increase bond strength. After stirring well, the product is applied as a thin coat over the entire area using a brush or spatula, and depending on the material, 2–3 thin coats may be required. Based on layer thickness, ambient temperature, and humidity, an evaporation time of 5–10 minutes is observed; when the surface feels dry but slightly tacky, the parts are joined under strong pressure for a short time. If the evaporation time is exceeded and the surface becomes “over-dry,” adhesive must be reapplied to the same area.

Sector-specific use scenarios
In machinery manufacturing, maintenance/repair, and fixture production—where rubber-to-metal bonding needs are common—it can be used for full-surface bonding of elastomer parts such as bumpers and vibration mounts. In insulation and isolation work, it can help speed up the process in large-area applications such as laminating felt, textiles, and suitable foam materials. In the automotive supply industry and industrial equipment assembly, it offers a reliable industrial adhesive alternative for rubber-based components where an elastic bond line is desired. When selecting the product, it is recommended to follow the list of unsuitable plastics and to clarify process parameters through short validation tests on the actual part.
