WEICON Contact VA 300 Cyanoacrylate Adhesive is a liquid industrial adhesive developed for fast fixing on porous and absorbent materials. Its ethyl-based cyanoacrylate structure forms a bond very quickly with ambient moisture, saving time in assembly and maintenance work. Its higher-viscosity character helps reduce the risk of running and supports more controlled application on small parts. The manufacturer is WEICON, and the product is part of WEICON’s Germany-based chemical product portfolio.
What is the VA 300 cyanoacrylate industrial adhesive used for?
This industrial adhesive focuses especially on fast bonding needs for absorbent/porous substrates such as wood, cork, leather, and ceramics. It also offers a general-purpose use area where metal, plastic, and rubber can be bonded to themselves or to each other. Since it works as a thin film, it delivers more repeatable results in joints where parts fit well and surface contact is high. If curing slows down due to the chemical nature or porosity of the surface, it is stated that the process can be supported with an activator.
Technical structure and basic performance characteristics
The product is defined as an ethyl-based, transparent/colorless liquid and is silicone-free. The viscosity range stated as 200–300 mPa·s provides a profile that makes squeeze-out control easier, especially on vertical surfaces and in small-part assembly. Since the maximum gap-bridging capability is limited to 0.15 mm, it should be evaluated not as a “gap filler” but as an industrial adhesive intended for well-fitting surfaces. Temperature resistance is given as -50 °C to +80 °C, with short-term +100 °C, providing a selection framework for assemblies operating in a moderate temperature range.
Curing behavior and application window
The processing temperature range is defined as +15 °C to +40 °C, and a relative humidity band of 40%–70% is recommended. The application thickness is expected to remain low; a layer thickness of about 0.05–0.2 mm is noted as an important process point for healthy full curing. Since curing may be delayed on absorbent surfaces or in thicker film applications, the use of an activator is positioned as an option to increase process reliability. As the time to reach final strength is given as 24 hours, full loading should be planned with this period in mind.
Application method, surface preparation, and sector use areas
Before application, keeping surfaces clean, dry, and free of oil is a basic requirement for repeatable results with this industrial adhesive; mechanical roughening is recommended on very smooth surfaces. The adhesive is typically applied to only one of the surfaces, and parts are quickly joined and held in place; a spot-application approach is recommended on large surfaces to reduce internal stresses. It can be used in scenarios such as fixing small plastic/metal components in automotive supply and maintenance, fast attachment of housings and parts in electrical/electronics assembly, and local bonding in wood- and ceramic-based applications. For storage, minimum shelf life is stated as 9 months at room temperature; storing between +2 °C and +7 °C can extend shelf life up to 12 months.
