Weicon BR Bronze-Filled Epoxy System is a two-component epoxy resin system developed for the repair, reshaping, and gap filling of bronze parts and bronze castings. Thanks to its paste-like consistency, it can be applied in a controlled manner in vertical or localized applications, and after curing it forms a bronze-like surface appearance. With its non-corrosive character, the product stands out especially for technical repair and reconstruction purposes on bronze-based components. This Germany-made system is manufactured by WEICON GmbH & Co. KG.

This product is a bronze-filled epoxy-based system and offers advantages in precision surface repairs thanks to its paste-like consistency, which is ready for direct application. The official technical data sheet states that the mixed density is approximately 2.6 g/cm³, consumption at 1 mm layer thickness is about 2.6 kg/m², and the pot life for a 500 g mixture at 20 °C is approximately 30 minutes. The fact that final mechanical strength is achieved in around 24 hours allows for planned work in maintenance and workshop applications. This structure makes the product valuable not only as a filling material, but also as an industrial adhesive solution focused on repair and reconstruction.

Strength capacity of the bronze-filled epoxy system
The technical documentation lists the product’s compressive strength as 82 MPa, tensile strength as 28 MPa, flexural strength as 55 MPa, and Shore D hardness as 80. Its temperature resistance ranges from -35 °C to +120 °C, while thermal conductivity is approximately 0.5 W/m·K. Its virtually shrinkage-free curing and ability to be applied up to 30 mm in a single layer provide a significant advantage in surface restoration and gap-filling applications. For this reason, the product delivers reliable results in technical repairs and bronze surface restorations where dimensional stability is expected.

Application method and surface preparation
For a successful application, the surface must be completely free from oil, dirt, rust, oxide, paint, and moisture. The official application instructions recommend grinding or, preferably, sandblasting in smooth or heavily contaminated areas, and define a suitable surface roughness in the range of 75–100 µm. After the resin and hardener are mixed homogeneously, the material is applied with a spatula and spread into gaps without entrapping air. In large-volume repairs, the use of fiberglass or metal reinforcement is also among the technically recommended methods.
