Weicon WEICONLOCK® AN 302-90 Anaerobic Threadlocking Sealant is an anaerobic industrial adhesive that penetrates threaded connections by capillary action after assembly to provide locking and sealing. Thanks to its very low viscosity, it can flow into extremely fine gaps and help reduce loosening. Since it is positioned in a high-strength class, it is preferred in applications where unintended disassembly of the joint is critical. It is manufactured in Germany by WEICON GmbH & Co. KG. Post-assembly locking and thread sealing by capillary action with AN 302-90 Because this product works on a “post-assembly locking” principle, it can be applied from the outside to already assembled threaded connections and then migrate into the joint. Capillary penetration is one of the key advantages that supports locking performance in small threads and low-clearance joints. Being defined for threaded connections up to M5 indicates a targeted solution for fine fasteners. Its green, fluorescent appearance can make visual verification during application easier. Technical performance range and strength approach AN 302-90 has a viscosity range of 10–20 mPa·s, indicating a very fluid industrial adhesive character with high penetration capability. Since the maximum gap-bridging value is given as 0.07 mm, effective results are intended on properly toleranced metal threads. The “breakaway” torque is stated as 15–25 Nm and the “prevailing” torque as 30–40 Nm; these values contribute to increased resistance to loosening. Temperature resistance is stated as -60 °C to +150 °C, and final strength is reported to be achieved within 3 hours. Anaerobic curing principle and compatible systems This product is a single-component anaerobic system that cures where oxygen is excluded between metal surfaces, creating a locking effect. Therefore, its typical application is metal threaded connections and similar joints. Since it is in a high-strength class, the disassembly method in maintenance applications that require removal may need to be planned in line with the process. In fine threads and small fasteners, its capillary penetration offers an industrial adhesive solution aimed at reducing the risk of vibration-related loosening. Application method, practical tips, and storage Cleaning the surfaces before application is recommended, as oil and dirt residues can negatively affect locking and sealing performance. The product is applied directly and evenly from the bottle using the dosing nozzle; it is advised not to let the nozzle come into direct contact with metal. When thread sealing is intended, it is applied around the thread in circular movements and the parts are assembled and tightened. Not pouring product that has contacted metal back into the bottle helps reduce the risk of unwanted curing in the packaging; a minimum shelf life of 24 months at room temperature is stated. Industry applications and key advantages AN 302-90 can be used in machine equipment with fine threaded connections, instrumentation joints, and precision assembly applications where both locking and sealing are needed. In maintenance operations, it provides practicality when joint security needs to be increased through post-assembly intervention. Very low viscosity and strong capillary action are the key differentiators that support the locking effect by penetrating micro-gaps. Thanks to its high-strength class, it is expected to contribute to connection stability in systems exposed to vibration and micro-movements.
