Weicon Stainless Steel-Filled Repair Stick is a kneadable epoxy-based industrial adhesive repair compound designed to repair stainless steel and similar corrosion-resistant metals and to rebuild surfaces. It fills cracks, holes, leaks, and surface damage, restoring shape to the part and can also be used for sealing purposes. The stainless steel filler in the material helps the repaired area achieve a structure closer to a metallic character. With NSF/ANSI 61 approval for use in drinking water applications, it can be considered for process equipment under appropriate procedures. The product is supplied as a Germany-origin item by WEICON GmbH & Co. KG.

Fast repair and sealing with the Weicon stainless repair stick
This stainless steel-filled repair stick is a practical industrial adhesive solution for maintenance operations where downtime needs to be reduced due to faults or damage. Its knead-activated form allows application in the field without the need for mixing equipment. The ability to fill voids and shape the material on the part provides advantages not only for bonding but also for repair and touch-up focused applications. Because it aims for a repair approach that does not promote corrosion on stainless steel and stainless metals, it can be preferred especially on equipment requiring hygienic design.

Technical structure, curing, and strength parameters
The product is positioned within epoxy resin systems and defined as a two-component repair compound filled with stainless steel. The mixing ratio is 1:1 by weight, and the mixed density is specified as 2.2 g/cm³. A maximum gap-bridging capacity of up to 15 mm is stated, which is an important practical limit for filling and shaping in larger voids. Shrinkage of less than 1% under suitable conditions can be beneficial for repairs where dimensional stability is expected. Along with NSF/ANSI 61 approval, ISSA and IMPA codes are also included in the product’s standard classifications.

Curing speed and mechanical strength approach
For this industrial adhesive repair stick, the pot life is stated as 5 minutes at 20 °C for a 10 g mix, so the application should be completed without delay after kneading. Handling strength is given as 10 minutes, working strength as 60 minutes, and full final strength as 24 hours. After curing, compressive strength is specified as 55 MPa and hardness as Shore D 80±3; these values support a more structural behavior of the repaired area against mechanical impact and pressure compared to typical filler putties. Adhesion strength is given as 8 MPa according to DIN EN ISO 4624, indicating a reliable bond is targeted with proper surface preparation. Temperature resistance is stated as -50 °C to +120 °C, with short-term resistance up to +150 °C.

Application method and critical surface preparation
For a successful application, surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from oil; dust, dirt, rust, and moisture residues can significantly reduce adhesion. On very dirty or very smooth surfaces, mechanical roughening to increase adhesion and then cleaning again is recommended. In application, the required amount is cut off, kneaded by hand until a homogeneous color/mix is achieved, and pressed into the damaged area to shape it. Since the part can reach “working strength” within up to 60 minutes, the return-to-service plan should be based on this time; for full performance, the 24-hour curing period should be taken into account. Keeping relative humidity below 85% and curing temperature within +6 °C to +40 °C supports process reliability.

Industry uses and compatible systems
This stainless steel-filled industrial adhesive can be used in areas such as storage and tank manufacturing, fixture engineering, and process equipment maintenance to repair leaks, cracks, and surface damage found on tanks and containers, pipes and lines, pumps, and housings. It is also suitable for quick touch-ups of impact-related damage on stainless surfaces in filling and packaging machines. In the food, cosmetics, and pharmaceutical industries, it can be integrated into maintenance applications for drinking-water-contact areas within the framework provided by NSF/ANSI 61 approval. The repaired area becoming mechanically loadable relatively quickly can help reduce waiting times during planned maintenance. Its stainless-steel-appropriate filler structure can be a reason for preference in repairs where corrosion risk needs to be controlled.
