Weicon Urethane Colour Paste (Black) 250 g is an auxiliary material developed to color polyurethane and epoxy resin systems, based on finely dispersed pigments. It is used especially in WEICON Urethan and WEICON Casting Resin MS 1000 systems to turn the mixture uniformly black. Thanks to its pasty, non-sag consistency, it makes dosing easier to control and helps keep color balance manageable in application. The product is manufactured by WEICON, and the manufacturer’s headquarters are stated to be in Germany.

Intended coloring function and purpose of use for the Urethane Colour Paste (Black)

The main function of this product is to be added in a controlled amount to the resin mixture to obtain the desired black color in the final casting/coating part. It is preferred especially in processes such as mold casting, filling, and coating where visual standardization is required. The pasty structure of the colorant helps make consumption more predictable compared to liquid colorants. When used at the correct ratios, it focuses only on imparting color without disrupting the process flow of the system.

Chemical basis and key technical characteristics of the black colour paste

The base of the colour paste is defined as polyol, and it is stated to provide a “black after drying” color. The mixture density is given as approximately 1.00 g/cm³, which provides a practical reference for dosing and consumption calculations. Since its consistency is described as pasty and standfest (non-sag), it is easier to control when adding it on vertical surfaces or in narrow volumes. An application temperature range of +10 °C to +25 °C is specified, so keeping ambient conditions within this range supports stable color distribution and overall process quality.

Addition ratio and compatibility with resin systems

For WEICON Urethan 45/60/80 systems, the product is stated to be addable up to about 8% depending on the total mixture weight. For WEICON Casting Resin MS 1000, the addition amount is given as up to about 5%; these limits help preserve the character of the resin while achieving the color target. Since excessive addition ratios can cause unwanted process effects beyond coloring, staying within the stated upper limits is the correct approach. Making the paste homogeneous before use contributes to a more even dispersion of pigments in the mixture.

Application method and process control points

The colour paste is added to the resin system at the targeted ratio and mixed in a controlled manner until a uniform color is obtained. Because of its pasty nature, it is important to scrape the container walls and continue mixing long enough to avoid build-up along the edges. In serial work where color consistency is required, using the same mixing time and the same addition ratio increases repeatability. Since a minimum shelf life of 12 months at room temperature is stated, maintaining package integrity and storing the product under suitable conditions makes inventory management easier.

Industry applications and key advantages

This colorant can be used in polyurethane/epoxy casting and coating applications such as molded casting parts, filling applications, and industrial components requiring visual coding. The stability of the black tone helps keep visual differences such as scratches or marks more manageable on the finished part. Its pasty, non-sag consistency provides advantages for quick dosing and cleaner work in the field. On the procurement/specification side, the presence of the IMPA 812984 code can also offer practicality in corporate purchasing and classification processes.
