Weicon Zinc Spray 400 ml is a technical spray coating developed to provide long-lasting cathodic corrosion protection on metal surfaces. With micro-fine zinc flakes, it forms a fast-drying protective film that adheres firmly to the surface, offering a practical surface-protection solution for maintenance and assembly work. In the RAL 9006 shade, it helps achieve a coating appearance close to “lightly weathered galvanizing.” The product is manufactured by WEICON, and the manufacturer’s headquarters are stated to be in Germany.
Cathodic corrosion protection with WEICON Zinc Spray
This technical spray is intended to delay rusting especially on weld seams, drilled/processed areas, and touch-up points where bare metal is exposed. The information about German TÜV approval and the statement of high resistance in a salt spray test provide a rationale for selection on equipment exposed to harsh environmental conditions. Being paintable offers process flexibility for applications where a topcoat paint system is required. It stands out with the advantage of fast, on-site application on any metal surface that needs corrosion protection.
Technical structure, film character, and compatible substrates
The binder system is stated to be styrene alkyd, and the pigment structure consists of zinc and aluminium flakes; this supports the coating in forming a metallic, well-adhering film. Since pigment purity is given as approximately 99.9% Zn and 99.9% Al, the protective metal-layer approach of the coating is strengthened. A dry-film metal content of about 70% is stated, which aligns with the corrosion-protection target. As the application range is specified for both indoor and outdoor use, it can be planned for site conditions as well as in-plant maintenance.
Drying time, temperature resistance, and finishing plan
For this technical spray, the processing temperature range is given as +5 °C to +35 °C, with the ideal application band defined as +18 °C to +35 °C. A dust-dry time of about 15 minutes reduces waiting time for quick touch-up work, while a 10–12 hour window should be considered for full curing. If overcoating is planned, the information that it becomes paintable after 24 hours helps sequence assembly operations. Since temperature resistance is stated as -50 °C to +500 °C, it can also be considered for surface protection of metal parts exposed to thermal loads.
Application method and sector use areas
Cleaning and degreasing the surface before application directly affects adhesion and the protective integrity of the film layer. Shaking the can and spraying evenly in cross coats from about 25 cm helps achieve a more uniform film thickness and a more balanced appearance. The stated reference values of about 2 m² coverage and 30–50 µm film thickness for 1.5 cross coats support planned consumption and work scheduling. Key areas of use include rust-preventive priming, coating weld and drilled areas, creating a conductive interlayer for spot welding, and general metal protection applications. In processes where suitability information such as NSF R2 registration is relevant, following the correct safety practices and manufacturer instructions can support specification compliance.
