WEICON WEICONLOCK AN 302-22 Anaerobic Thread Sealant is an anaerobic industrial adhesive designed to reduce loosening in threaded connections while providing sealing at the same time. It cures when an oxygen-free environment is formed between metal surfaces, filling the thread gaps and stabilizing the joint. Its purple color and fluorescent feature make application checks easier and improve visual traceability during servicing. Thanks to its low-strength class, it focuses on allowing joints to be removed with standard hand tools in maintenance work where disassembly is required.

AN 302-22 industrial adhesive: working principle and intended use

Anaerobic threadlockers are developed to limit micro-loosening caused by vibration and shock in threaded joints such as bolt-nut and stud connections. This industrial adhesive helps reduce the risk of self-loosening by filling the gaps between threads and also helps close leakage paths in the same area. Its medium-viscosity character supports controlled retention on the thread during application and reduces the risk of run-off. The low-strength approach provides a “secure yet serviceable” locking solution, especially for equipment that is adjusted, calibrated, or periodically disassembled.

Technical performance, resistance, and service conditions

This industrial adhesive is specified for use in threaded connections up to M36 and has a maximum gap-bridging capability of approximately 0.2 mm. Its viscosity is around 1,000 mPa·s, a practical range for both flow control during assembly and balanced penetration into the threads. Reflecting its low-strength class, the breakaway torque is given as 4–8 Nm and the prevailing torque as 2–4 Nm, helping the joint remain serviceable. Temperature resistance is -60 °C to +150 °C, providing a wide working window for machinery and plant equipment. At room temperature, handling strength develops within 10–20 minutes, and full strength typically develops within 3–6 hours; these times should be considered in process planning.

Application method and surface preparation

Before application, cleaning threaded surfaces from oil, dirt, and processing residues directly affects the performance of this type of anaerobic industrial adhesive. The product is applied evenly to the threads using the dosing nozzle from the bottle/pen, and it is distributed so the threads are wetted with a circular motion. After parts are assembled, tightening is completed, and the joint should be left as undisturbed as possible during curing. In serial production, using dispensing equipment is recommended for repeatability, and material that has contacted metal should not be poured back into the packaging after application.

Process control, accessories, and origin information

Avoiding contact between the dosing nozzle and metal is important; even very small metal particles can trigger premature curing inside the packaging. If needed, using activators such as “Activator F” can support a system approach and increase process reliability in low-temperature or passive-surface scenarios. This industrial adhesive has designations associated with ISSA and IMPA codes, which can facilitate traceability in purchasing and maintenance standards.
