Weicon Copper Spray 400 ml is a technical spray coating designed to provide a copper-metallic matte appearance and form a protective film layer on surfaces. With an acrylate resin binder and copper pigments, it delivers a metallic character and can be used for decorative and protective purposes in both indoor and outdoor applications. Its silicone-free formulation can offer a more compatible application experience in certain assembly and maintenance processes. The product is manufactured by WEICON, and the manufacturer’s headquarters are stated to be in Germany.
Coating effect targeted with the Copper Spray 400 ml technical spray
This technical spray aims to combine visual enhancement and surface protection by creating a copper-toned coating on metal surfaces. The color is described as copper-metallic and matte, making it possible to achieve a uniform “copper coating” effect on the part. Since copper pigment purity is stated as approximately 99.9% Cu and the metal content in the dry film as about 50%, the metallic effect of the coating can become more pronounced along with application quality. Being positioned for use without requiring a topcoat helps reduce process steps in maintenance and touch-up work. Typical use scenarios include outdoor parts such as window sills/frames, gutters, downpipes, exterior lighting, and mailboxes, as well as decorative applications.
Application method and surface preparation
Before application, keeping the surface clean, dry, and free of oil is considered critical for coating adhesion; in practice, degreasing with a suitable surface cleaner is expected. The can is shaken until the mixing ball can be clearly heard, and the product is sprayed in cross coats from a distance of about 25 cm. The processing temperature range is given as +5 °C to +35 °C, with an ideal range of +18 °C to +35 °C, so ambient conditions should be taken into account. If increased corrosion protection is desired, a zinc spray primer is recommended; this system approach can provide a more balanced result especially on metal surfaces. Due to the pressurized packaging, it is important to protect the product from direct sunlight and avoid exposure to temperatures above +50 °C.
Coating performance, heat resistance, and film characteristics
For this technical spray, consumption for 1.5 cross coats is given as about 2 m² and the film thickness as approximately 20–30 µm; part geometry and surface roughness can affect consumption. With a dust-dry time of about 10 minutes and a full curing time of about 4–6 hours, a waiting window can be planned before and after assembly operations. Becoming paintable after about 4 hours helps streamline operations in scenarios where a finishing step will be applied over the coating. Since temperature resistance is stated as -50 °C to +300 °C, it can be considered for decorative refurbishment and protection of metal parts exposed to heat. Being abrasion-resistant and having a cross-cut test result stated in the 0–1 range provide a practical performance frame for film adhesion when combined with proper surface preparation.
Key advantages in maintenance and touch-up work
Achieving a metallic copper appearance quickly is an important advantage for part refurbishment and visual standardization in maintenance environments. The silicone-free formula can support compatibility expectations in certain painting and assembly processes. Being usable without a topcoat reduces additional material needs in small touch-up jobs and saves time. A minimum shelf life of 24 months at room temperature provides practicality for planned use in workshop and maintenance stocks. With these characteristics, the product is positioned as a preferred technical spray solution for metallic coatings used for both protective and decorative purposes.
